Mexican Swine Flu

Since I am going to Mexico this summer, this caught my eye. It reminded me of the SARs case we studied earlier this semester as well. The swine flu epidemic hit Mexico about 2 months ago and has now crossed into American borders. The disease can mutate into other diseases that are untreatable. And for now, we do not know how the virus spreads, and yet people are dying in a couple of days. Mexico has handled the crisis and epidemic by closing the schools until May and that may even happen in the U.S. now. Just like the SARs case, there were early warning signs that could have prevented the spreading of this disease, and yet we are just now trying to stop the spread and limit travel to Mexico.
